A Sample Team Event

Team Development Events are a brilliant way of improving performance levels. DCo are asked to improve teamworking and collaboration in teams from all sectors and of all sizes.

Our approach is always to understand the team challenges and design an event that includes an experiential learning element.

A recent example is when we were asked to design and deliver a one day team development event to achieve a shift in a team’s attitude to change following a restructuring process within the company.

The event was held at an off site venue to remove the team from their day-to-day work environment. It was also championed and attended by members of the senior leadership team.

The team experienced a series of development projects, facilitated discussion and workshops that were focused firstly on identifying the factors that were holding the team back before enabling them to make commitments to the way forward.

Example Team Event Objectives

As a result of participating in team development events, the team members will:

• Explore how they work together as a team and understand how teams work effectively and perform well

• Consider the role that attitude and mindsets play in their team dynamics and in achieving positive outcomes

• Work under pressure and in evolving situations to solve problems and understand how to achieve the best results

• Understand why good communication is important and how to communicate more effectively as a team

What Participants Thought

‘This event allowed us to look honestly at the team’s performance. It is easy to not take the time out of the business to work on ourselves but the value of taking the time to invest in the team’s development is significant.’

‘This event provided the opportunity to discuss business issues and topics with fellow management team members in an environment that was facilitated by the consultant team. It is rare that we make time for this type of discussion in the normal course of work. DCo challenged the management team to think about the ‘softer’ aspects of the business which is something that we don’t do enough of’

‘This event provided the team with a clear focus and achieved commitments from the team that will make a change to behaviours and attitude.’
