I am in an elegant hotel in Leeds and it is the evening of the annual PPMA awards ceremony. I am having my very own Oscar-esque awards moment as I open the envelope and proudly announce “The winner…Charis Wilson from East Sussex County Council!” I have to admit that my broad smile is partly fuelled by the fact that I have managed to walk to the stage in long dress and heels to present the award without falling over- it’s not as easy as they make it look on the telly I can tell you!
Red carpet perils aside, I have enjoyed opportunity to meet and work with a range of public sector colleagues and I have relished the inspiring experience of meeting young apprentices who demonstrated such a wealth of potential. Most of all I am truly proud of what DCo have contributed to make the search for an Apprentice of the Year such a resounding success.
