Why your data matters to us

At The Development Company (DCo) we take your privacy seriously. We will only use your personal information to administer your account, communicate with you about our services and provide the products and services you have requested from us.

This means that DCo will collect some personal data about you which includes your name, address, email and phone number. If you are attending a development programme, assessment centre or residential event we may also need to request special types of information from you to ensure your wellbeing and safety during attendance. If you are undertaking a testing process with us, you may also need to provide additional personal data and will be asked for your consent for this.


What we use your data for

We need to know your personal data so that we can contact you with information about our services, and to liaise with you about the work you have contracted us to carry out. DCo will only collect personal data from you that we need in order to provide and oversee our services to you.

All personal data is processed by DCo staff in the UK however for the purposes of IT hosting and maintenance this information is located on servers within the European Union. Some of our phone calls are recorded, stored and processed for training purposes and to be able to clarify supplied information.

If you are attending a development programme, DCo may share specific information with third party suppliers for this to occur. This data sharing is to enable you to receive the service you have requested from us, and is in the interest of your wellbeing or safety. You will always know and be asked to agree when this is the case.

To provide psychometric assessments DCo use trusted third party providers who advise that they adhere to all GDPR standards. If you are undertaking a testing process with us, your data may be provided to us directly by you or will be given by your current or potential employer with your agreement.

Any testing is only carried out with your expressed permission, and you will be provided with clear information in terms of the psychometric tool used and how any of your data will be used, shared and stored. When testing is undertaken for recruitment and professional development purposes it will be made clear to you that in consenting to the testing you will grant DCo the right to share this information with your current or potential employers.

There are times when we might contact you to request your permission to use your testimonials, references, recommendations and likeness (image/video) for sales and marketing purposes. On each occasion, we will ask for your separate consent for this to happen and will provide you with the specific details of its use. To promote our products and services, we may acquire contact information for businesses available in the public domain or from other reputable organisations. We will always gain your consent for contacting you and if you want to be removed from our list at any time you can do so via phone, email or our website.


How long we keep your data

We have a Data Protection regime in place to oversee the effective and secure processing of your personal data and we keep your information for as long as it is necessary to honour the terms of our contract with you or your organisation.

If you indicate that you are happy for us to contact you about new or future services we will retain your name, telephone number and email address for the purpose of keeping in touch. This information is not shared with third parties and you can request that we remove you from our contacts list at any time via phone, email or our website. You can also request to see this information and have it corrected or deleted at any time.
